Student’s Plans for Thanksgiving Break

As Thanksgiving is around the corner, the anticipated break that most students long for also follows. This will be the first break that students will have since the first day of school so some students are very excited for this break.

The transition from distance learning to in-person school has not been easy for some students so with a full week of no school, students on campus, such as Julianna Arias, 11, will take advantage of that by releasing any stress from school.

“Honestly, a break from school would help a lot with the stress from the workload,” Arias said. “I mainly plan on spending time with my family during my break and catching up on shows I haven’t had the time to watch.”

As some students will take the opportunity to relax, others look forward to the many traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. These traditions hold a special meaning to families therefore many memories are made that are forever cherished.

When asked about her family traditions, Danna Solis, 11, said “I feel really excited for Thanksgiving as a tradition [my family does] is to cook tamales or roasted chicken.”

As Thanksgiving break is the time to alleviate and ease up any stress, it is also the time to spend time with loved ones. As many students on campus have a busy schedule, it can be difficult to spend quality time with family and friends. Not only is November 25th the time to show gratitude, but also the entire week is dedicated for students to show their appreciation for loved ones. Students, like Celeste Corral, 11, know the importance of family and creating memories.

“I will spend [Thanksgiving break] with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins from my dad’s side [since] none of my mom’s side of the family live in California,” Corral reveals. “We don’t have many traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving besides having it at my house every year and eating together.”

Many students on campus will spend their Thanksgiving break differently but will, most definitely, take this time to relax and be with loved ones.
