Adele’s Come Back

Adele announced she will be releasing her new album 25, on Nov.20 and it is the first album from the British singer since 2011. Just like the rest of her albums, the name 25 comes from the age she was when the album was recorded.

25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realizing,” Adele wrote on Twitter, “and I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.”

Previous to this album, Adele’s 2011 album, 21, sold more than eleven million copies in the United States, not to mention it remains this decade’s biggest selling record, according to officialcharts.com. During the 2012 Grammy Awards, 21 won album of the year and song of the year for “Rolling in the Deep”, However; Adele explained how her new album, 25, will differ from the award winning 21.

“My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record,” Adele wrote on Twitter. “I’m making up with myself. I’m making up for lost time.”

On Oct. 23 Adele’s new song, “Hello”, was released as a sneak peek to the new album, but instead of getting feedback on how good the music might have been, fans of Adele could not get over the fact that the music video showcased a flip phone. That’s right, a flip phone was all it took for viewers to tweet stuff such as, “It’s not just Adele’s comeback. It’s the flip phone’s comeback too.” Adele’s director, Xavier Dolan, had a simple explanation.

“I could see the GIFs on Twitter,” Dolan told the LA Times. “I’m like, ‘Guys, get over it. It doesn’t matter.’ But the real explanation is that I never like filming modern phones or cars. They’re so implanted in our lives that when you see them in movies you’re reminded you’re in reality.”

In the twenty-four hours after the release of “Hello”, around 200,000 people Shazamed the song. Shazam is an application for phones, used to identify music. This was a record breaking high for the company.

“No singer has ever been Shazamed so much in its first day,” Daniel Danker, the company’s chief product officer told Newsbeat.

Adele’s new album is looking to be another record breaking album by the British singer.
