CTE Programs: Food Science, Diet and Nutrition

Downey High School’s Food science, dietary, and nutrition class is available to teach students about life skills and how to achieve their goals of developing culinary techniques. This class prioritizes students to work together and shows how to safely prepare food in a good environment. It is guided by Mrs. Rios who helps students with measurements and how to properly clean, and prepare for cooking. On days when the class is not cooking, students watch cooking shows to get inspired for their next project, tutorials on how to make food from different cultures, and the techniques that are needed to be prepared for the future.
