When asked what it takes to run a successful clothing business, especially during a pandemic, Rachelle Escurel, 11, owner of @rje.closet on Instagram, describes how important it is to stick to your goals in order to achieve them. “It’s all about that personal motivation to get things done and how much work they’re willing to put in,” Escurel stated. “And during quarantine with not having much to do, I really got into online shopping and on Instagram, seeing all of these people selling their clothes, trading them, and in my opinion, it was a smart way to accumulate so many nice pieces of clothing that I don’t use anymore and don’t want to go to waste.”

In her final year of high school, Claudette De La Garza joined Downey high’s Newspaper as a photographer. Alongside being a photographer, she is also the vice president of the Downey High Writing Center and is a part of the Femineers. With her mother being her biggest role model, Garza continues to push through to do her absolute best. As she continues with her hard work to get into UCSB, she keeps herself sane by listening to music and swimming. Her music appreciation is endless and ranges from 50s music to modern day music.
