![On Friday, October 13, 2023, the Downey Vikings took on the cross-town rivalry Warren Bears at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood. Both schools had the amazing opportunity to compete in one of the biggest stadiums in the world, the SoFi Stadium. Being granted the opportunity of being part of “LA Bowl Friday Night Lights” and being sponsored by the “LA Bowl”, its publicity reaches even further than the city of Downey, allowing the LA Times to write an article about the rivalry game. This war zone-filled stadium seated with over 18,000 students, staff, alumni, and residents of Downey evidently ended in favor of the Warren Bears with a score of 28-21.](https://www.thedowneylegend.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/cover-1200x800.jpg)

![The Downey Vikings baseball team has officially started its season. On February 16, 2023, they went up against Los Altos and won with a score of 4-1. As the team was pumped and the crowd was cheering, I interviewed players, coaches, and fans about how they felt during the game and how they think the rest of the season is going to play out. Warming up to be next to bat, Michael Reyes, 11, talked about how he thinks the rest of the season will play out. “We have a really strong team this year, everyone knows what they have to do so I see this season going very well.” Reyes stated, “I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season will play out.”](https://www.thedowneylegend.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/IMG_0059-900x600.jpg)
