Angelique Ventura, Multimedia Manager
Angelique Ventura, 12, returns for her second year at The Downey Legend as the team’s multimedia manager. Ventura is passionate about photography and enjoys being behind a camera. She realised this when she branched out from only being a student to getting more involved in school and taking classes like photojournalism. In the future, she hopes to incorporate her passion by majoring in journalism with an emphasis in media/photojournalism. For the past year, Vetura has learned a lot working with cameras and microphones to produce podcasts along with videos.
“It’s really helped me to learn how to ask and answer questions,” Ventura said. “It’s also helped me to go off script in a conversation and be less robotic.”
Rikki Velasquez, Co-MultiMedia Manager
Entering her second year of Newspaper in style, Rikki Velasquez, went from an enthusiastic podcaster to a determined and outgoing Co Multi-Manager. This year Velasquez knows she must do her best this year by enrolling in AP and Honors classes and becoming a commissioner for the Link Crew team. However Velasquez wants to do more to make her FIT application stand out so, she is creating accessories and building up her wardrobe to grow her cutesy style. Even though Velasquez has gotten so far in her work in fashion throughout the years she always remembers where it all started.
“I think it important to remember who we were as kids because even when I was a kid I knew who I wanted to be,” Rikki said, “Obviously I changed from then but I still see my younger self in everything I do.”
Amanda Rubio, Videographer
Amanda Rubio, 12, returns for her second year at The Downey Legend as a videographer. Rubio is passionate about videography, film, and everything to do behind a camera. In the future, Rubio plans to put her passion into action and major in film at her dream school NYU. One of Rubios’ goals is to one day open a producing company/agency and become a director or executive producer, specifically, directing/producing action films. Rubio’s love for videography, film, and photography allows her to express her creativity through editing clips during her free time. Rubio’s great sense of humor along with her caring personality and creativity, make up to form a huge asset to the newspaper. “I am a videographer again this year but I am so excited to try and venture out into fundraising and photography,” says Rubio. “I am also excited to join many new clubs this year like the ASL club.”
