    About the Writers

After watching Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again four times, Nathalie Sibal,12, recounts how this film series has inspired her to become a film director and writer. “These films made me realize that I want to create that same type of content for others,” Sibal said. “I want to make movies that causes an entire audience to forget about their troubles and just have fun.”

I struggled for the longest time writing this because Nathalie Sibal is a multitude of things: smart, creative, strong, honest, kind, hilarious – but above all, she’s unique, and not many people can claim to be.

Nathalie’s creativity and passion knows no bounds. She has an innate ability to create complex characters and capture them in diverse moments, whether they inhabit the luxurious lifestyle of the Victorian era or the simple, naturalistic setting of Greece.  No matter what story she drafts, they all possess a deep love and understanding of the human experience. Her immense talent, coupled with her confidence, is unmatched by no other and I can’t wait to see her break barriers in Hollywood.

More than a screenwriter, Nathalie is the greatest friend anyone can ask for.  She came at a transitional point in my life where I was unsure of the future, but with her by my side, change didn’t seem as petrifying.  Her wit and resilience inspire me, her kind and carefree nature lift me up. She is the Louise to my Thelma, the Venom to my Eddie Brock. There are not enough words in the English language I can use to express how lucky and grateful I am to have her as my best friend.

Passionate and outgoing, upcoming journalist Oscar Flores, 12, will follow where the story goes and have his friends and family to guide him. “My friends and family helped me get to where I am today and where I’m going to go,” Flores stated. “The impact I want to make on the world with my writing is what brought me to the art of journalism.”

Throughout our lives, we meet people who leave a lasting impact. They arrive at an unexpected time, but it is always when you are in need of their wisdom.

Oscar Flores is one of the kindest and most talented individuals that I have ever met. His ability to lace emotion and sincerity within every single one of his articles never fails to amaze me. Oscar is not afraid to take risks, in both his writing pieces and in real life. He faces all the obstacles thrown his way with perseverance and a positive outlook, qualities that are rare to find within many people.

I feel very grateful to have a person like Oscar in my life. Having him as a best friend is one of the greatest things to happen to me. Oscar has helped me through many difficult trials in my senior year and I can’t thank him enough for it.

    • Ever since she was a kid she always had a passion for art, Garcia Melia, 11, was inspired by Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter known for her self-portraits and works that are inspired by nature and the culture of Mexico. “I think it’s because we’re both Mexican and the fact we also we’re born on the same day!” Garcia said. “Frida Kahlo was also herself.” Garcia continues to have the drive for art as she then states, “Ever since I was a kid, I loved to draw! I like to make a mess while creating art, I’ve always been creative and I always found a way to make my imagination real.”
