About the Contributor
Miguel Arroyo
Miguel Arroyo, Videographer
First year staff member, senior Miguel Arroyo joined the online newspaper because “I want to create a more modern newspaper,” he said, by integrating videography into The Downey Legend. The first videographer ever to be on staff wishes to show the moments that exist beyond a simple picture by bringing his videos into this year’s newspaper. As staff member of the newspaper, Arroyo has set a goal of sharing stories that can be better portrayed in a video than in a photograph.   After high school, Arroyo plans to attend Cal State Dominguez or the University of California at Santa Cruz to major in liberal arts. Though Arroyo is a videographer, he also enjoys photographing Disneyland attractions and the characters as one of his hobbies; his favorite character is Donald Duck because of his silliness and clumsiness. In a few years, Arroyo sees himself working either at Disneyland, with Donald Duck, or with small children, showing them around the park. Arroyo and his best friend, Alyssa Talavera, 12, both have a love for Disneyland and share a friendship that they feel is defined by the quote “Adventure is out there.” When it comes to food, his least favorite things to eat are seafood and soda. Arroyo is bound to undergo a fascinating experience his senior year in The Downey Legend.
