Rather than throwing items away, Nelson Mencos, 11, used newspaper to paper mache a bird house as a part of the APES Upcycling project on April 30. “My mom and I used cardboard and loose newspaper that we had a lot of,” Mencos said. “We even made our own glue out of cornstarch and water which really made my project stand out.”
