It is that time once again! Fall is upon us and alongside it, a slew of new independent and blockbuster films.  The mass audience is about to head to theatres to watch new releases like La La Land, Doctor Strange, Passengers, and a myriad of others.

Avid movie fan, Francisco Martinez, 10, described the films, both independent and blockbuster alike, that he is excited to see in the next few months.

“I’m very excited to see how Star Wars and Magnificent Seven will be like,” Martinez said.  “Magnificent Seven has an interesting concept for a movie that isn’t common and I can’t wait to see what they will do with the potential.  Star Wars…well…because who doesn’t like Star Wars?”

The Magnificent Seven, a remake of the original western film that starred Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen in 1960, has a release date of Sep. 23.  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spinoff from the Star Wars franchise, is slated for Dec. 16.

Having a specific taste in movies, Damaris Chacon, 10, speaks of the movies she knows are coming out in December.

“The only one I know is Rogue One,” Chacon said. “Actually, I don’t know how to feel about it [Rogue One: A Star Wars Story] because it’s not part of the original trilogy.”

Soon-to-be Cinema club member, Adrian Soto, 10, voices his opinion on which film of the fall he sees as being one of the best of the year.

“The movies based on books might be the best,” Soto said, “but it could go either way.”

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, based on the book of the same name, is set to release on Sept. 30.  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the lore from the popular Harry Potter series, has a release date of Nov. 18.

These movies are just some of the few heading to theatres in the next few months. Some other releases are The Birth of a Nation on Oct. 7, Max Steel on Oct. 14, Ouija: Origin of Evil on Oct. 27, Doctor Strange and Hacksaw Ridge on Nov. 4, Manchester by the Sea and Nocturnal Animals on Nov. 18, Moana on Nov. 23, La La Land on Dec. 16, Passengers on Dec. 21, and Assassin’s Creed on Dec. 21.  These are just some of the few movies that are coming out during the fall and even more are set to release.  Bring on the fall movie season!
