Growlin’ for forgiveness

Vivian Buenrostro, Co-Editor-in-Cheif

Modern surf- rock band from SoCal, The Growlers, released their third album Hung at Heart in January 2013 along with their single “Naked Kids.” The five-member band is majorly influenced by Californian rock of the late ‘60s. The heavy use of high pitched keyboard cords, jumpy bass lines and the raspy accompaniment of Brooks Nielsen’s vocals gives birth to the revolutionary genre of “Beach Goth.” “Naked Kids” is about having a deep remorse for caused trouble and asking for genuine forgiveness. Spinner.com noted the band’s sound as “a trademark styles of music that somehow combines country, surf, and pop.” The band has toured with well-known artist like The Black Keys and lead singer of The Strokes, Julian Casablancas. The Growlers will be touring from March 28 to June 7 in Western Europe and the US.
