Holy sweaters
March 11, 2013
California based indie band The Neighbourhood released the track “Sweater Weather” from their self- released EP “I’m Sorry” in late 2012. The group mysteriously appeared on the Internet early in 2012 with only an edgy track titled “Female Robbery” to offer. The identities of the musicians remained unknown until “Sweater Weather” was released along with the names of the five- member band. The track begins with quick base drumbeats accompanied by the smooth R&B voice of lead vocalist Jesse Rutherford. The staggered bass line provides the foundation for the mellow strums by guitarists’ Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels. “They’re the new band on the block,” Magazine.topman.com noted. Rutherford sings “’Cause it’s too cold whoa/ for you here and now/ so let me hold both your hands in the holes of my sweater,” translating to the fact that he temporarily cares about his lover but not entirely as much as the lover cares about him. The group will have a short tour during April 2013 throughout the US.

When she is not running the staff or writing stories, Buenrostro enjoys jogs around her neighborhood, making healthy shakes and other concoctions, or swimming in the waves at Huntington Beach. “Time doesn’t really exist when I’m in the ocean,” Buenrostro said. Buenrostro also loves live music; she has been to various concerts including Young the Giant, Arctic Monkeys, and Walk the Moon. Buenrostro plans to graduate and attend an out of state school far from California. “As much as I love Downey High,” Buenrostro said, “I can’t wait to go to college in a new environment.” While away at college she hopes to major in biology and medicine to start her path towards her career goal of being a doctor. Buenrostro aims to make her final year at Downey High School rewarding in both her academics and her position on The Downey Legend staff.
