Newcomer Leilani Ayala, 11, is one of the Downey Legend’s writers. As Ayala strives in her first year on newspaper, she also participates in clubs and is on the Downey High School’s marching band. Currently Ayala is making a club to tutor those who struggle with chemistry and plays the trumpet and french horn. Outside of Downey High school she enjoys baking sweet treats like brownies, cupcakes, cookies and cakes. Ayala spends her free time enjoying thriller tv shows and listening to rock music. 

As Ayala makes her way through junior year she inspires to attend a 4 year college majoring in psychology or child life development. Ayala expresses her genuine personality traits of being an observer, helping others through constructive criticism and listening skills. Followed with such great characteristics, Ayala will pursue being a child’s psychologist. Ayala applies the saying of what her psychology teacher once stated, “Once you’ve reached this point in your life, when you are happy, you naturally want to help others reach that same point.” Ayala’s motivation is to assist others and through the journey of getting others to that point in their lifetime.
