First year in the Downey Legend, Sofia Arceo, 12, learned an amazing way to tell stories and express herself, through photography after gaining exposure in her Photojournalism class in her past year. With her skill set, she plans to improve her skills in not only photography, but also journalism and in creative writing aiming to succeed in that career path. After taking a camp course over the summer, she was introduced to the multiple forms of journalism. She fell in love with it and now she interviews people to listen to their stories and introduce them to the world. Outside of school, she entertains herself by listening to music and interviewing small-time musicians with her friends.
“I know it’s hard, but it's my passion, and that’s the path that I chose for myself,” Arceo said. “Nothing really interests me as much as writing does and I want to continue with it.”
