Current illustrator, Kim Barragan, 12, is in her first year on The Downey Legend. Always pushing herself for success, Barragan hopes to someday attend Cal Poly and become an environmental engineer. She takes advanced placement classes to be able to have college credits for her future. After making some life changing decisions, she works hard to overcome her background. Outside of school she likes set designs, hand making things, and she’s into cars like her brother. She also enjoys playing the drums and gardening. She would describe herself as understanding, helpful, and creative.

“I not only like to create things,” Barragan stated. “I like gardening so when I put those things together I get environmental engineering and that’s why I love it so much.”
