The LA County Fair started on September 1 and ran through Sept. 24 in at the Pomona

Fairgrounds, California. The LA County Fair is the largest county fair in the United States

consisting of monkeys, a giraffe, a zebra, pop music, country, water rides, ferris wheels, and ice

skating.

Valery Salas, 11, attended the  LA Fair Saturday, Sept. 23. Salas enjoyed the bacon cotton

candy and appreciates being around her family.

“The food was good; they had a large variety to choose from but it was very pricey. The

rides were expensive ticketwise. You were able to get lost no matter where you are,” Salas

said.  “It was a really big fair and lots to do like shopping, petting zoo, pig races and so on.”

Ivan Miranda, 10, visited the LA Fair last Sunday, Sept. 17. Miranda was entertained by the rides, Twister and Wild Rider.

“Overall it was fun and cool; the rides were really fun. I was able to go on a couple and the ones

I went one were fun,” Miranda said. “What I enjoyed the most was the food, I had a giant corndog and a bacon burger.”

Anna Aceves, 12, had gone to the fair earlier in the month when it started. Aceves loved being able to get up close to all the baby goats and pigs in the petting zoo.

“I think it might be the best county fair I’ve been to; the OC Fair is like a little baby compared to the LA Fair,” Aceves stated. “The best part was all the animals because it’s so fun to see pigs race and being able to pet and feed the animals was even better!”

Before the LA County Fair ever existed, it was formerly known as a beet field in Pomona. It

was opened for 5 successful days between October 17 through October 21,1922. Throughout

the years, the fair has really grown with more food vendors like King Taco, Subway and adding Jurassic Park.
