First-year podcaster Kayla Ovalle, 11, strives to break out of her shell by interviewing and talking to all kinds of people through The Downey Legend this year. Now halfway through her Downey High School journey, she is a valued member of the color guard team and plans to attend the Air Force Academy after graduation. When asked to describe herself in three words, Ovalle chose kind, engaged, and imaginative.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream,” Ovalle said about her dream of joining the Air Force.
