After attending a trip to Catalina Island over the summer, sophomore Alexa Ortiz is ready to pursue her passion for Marine Biology once she graduates from Downey High.  “[I’ve been interested in Marine Biology] ever since kindergarten,” Ortiz stated. “I’ve always loved the sea and taking care of animals.”

With nine doctor visits Anais Bald,12, lost her vision on her left eye in 2016, in 2017 doctors had told her it was from an eye tumor blocking her retna. “ I remember when they told me that I need to have surgery fast and then next thing I know, one week later I have a glass eye,it was such a slow process before knowing what i had and then all of sudden Im having surgery,it was crazy”.
