De La Pumpkin Patch Review

De La Pumpkin Patch in Downey, California, is a fun mini-patch located at 7915 Florence Ave. The patch is a great area for families, especially smaller children who enjoy bouncy houses and painting. De La Pumpkin Patch is located in CVS’s parking lot and consists of jumpers, photo booths, and an area of pumpkins, where prices vary from $3-$20 depending on the size of the pumpkin. Visitors can also choose to paint the pumpkins for $5 and can get up to six colors. Myself and fellow Downey Legend member, Joana Cruz visited De La Pumpkin Patch on October 12, 2025, and upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by the workers. We
walked around the patch for a while and chose a pumpkin to paint. De La Pumpkin had a variety of different colors to choose from, and we were able to paint our pumpkin as a Sonny Angel. The other recreational activities, such as the bouncy houses, cost $10, and the photo booth was $5. Overall, De La Pumpkin Patch is a great place to visit if you are looking to decorate or carve pumpkins this fall season with friends or family!

Laila Barrera, Business Manager

Starting her second year on the Downey Legend, senior Laila Barrera takes on the role of Business Manager, where she enjoys exploring the business side of newspaper and creating engaging social media posts. Outside of newspaper, Barrera is an ASB Commissioner for Clubs and Organizations and a writing center tutor. She hopes to study history at community college before transferring to UC Santa Barbara, drawn to the subject’s storytelling aspect and even considering a future pathway with the FBI. In her free time, she enjoys baking, staying organized, and connecting with others, even while admitting she sometimes struggles with procrastination and stress. ”The Downey Legend has been a place where I could grow my love for business and social media as I’ve done reports for the class.”

Joana Cruz, Social Media

Joana Cruz, 12, enters her first year in a newspaper excited to join the Downey Legend’s social media. Her creative interest in pursuing architecture or interior design, swayed her to apply to the social media team. Her same interest also swayed her to join Femineers. Outside of school, she enjoys romance shows, collecting stickers, and bedazzling things with gems. She plans to attend CSLB or Cal Poly Pomona and become a licensed contractor. “I really love social media because it gives the ability to escape reality,” Cruz said, “A lot of people may disagree but sometimes a person needs a break from all pressures of reality.”
