History Made in the A.M.
January 20, 2016
“THE BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD”, as X Factor introduces One Direction, begins their hiatus after touring for 5 years starting in January 2016, but with the concern that they might be forgotten, fans are starting a fan project. The project consists of promoting a different song off the album every month online until they come back; this month they start with “History.”
“History” is a special song to the fans because it assures the fans that One Direction will come back:
“This is not the end
This is not the end
We can make it, you know it, you know”
The lyrics are sung by Louis Tomlinson; he sings them with passion and assurance that it is not the end of their career no matter what the media is saying. Tomlinson sings them with the guarantee that they will come back. These lyrics have so much meaning behind them for fans but all in a different type of way.
Another set of lyrics that hold a special place in fans’ hearts:
“You and me got a whole lot of history (oh)
We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen
You and me got a whole lot of history (oh)
So don’t let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever”
These lyrics are a realization that together (One Direction and the fans) have made history. One Direction is “the biggest band in the world” today and the fans are one of the strongest fan bases an artist can have. Thanks to the fans One Direction has been able to do four tours, two of them being stadium tours containing a minimum of 60 thousand people and more. They have won awards for their music, tours, and fan base; some being American Music Award Artist of the Year 2014 and 2015, Billboard Music Award for Top Touring Artist 2015, Teen choice Award for Choice Music Group 2013, 2014, 2015, Teen choice Award for Choice Most Fanatic Fans 2014, and much more. They have toured to countries such as Brazil, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, U.S. and so many more. The list about what One Direction is able to do could go on and on and on, but the most important thing One Direction has been able to do is offer emotional help.
One Direction has helped millions of fans with things they were struggling with self-love, kindness, friendships, etc. They have taught that it is okay to leave painful relationships; it is okay to put yourself first, and to always be kind. This list can also keep going. They connect their kindness through songs; “One Way Or Another” was filmed by them and with the money they got they donated to Ghana to help with vaccines, “Infinity” and “If I Could Fly” is under the impression for relationships and how to overcome them.
With One Direction’s first album Made In The A.M. without former band mate Zayn Malik, they continue to make history before their hiatus with the fans strongly supporting. One Direction gives their appreciations to the fans by publically dedicating “History” to them.

“There are times when I find myself lashing out and I understand their point of view,” Lopez said. “They have taught me that you will fail and it’s okay and you just need to keep trying until you reach your goal.”
During Lopez’s summer vacation her freshmen year she met new friends with One Direction’s music. They all met in line for a One Direction movie at the Krikorian theater in Downey.
“Daisy and I met the summer of freshman year, waiting in line for the One Direction movie. She was with her best friend and I was with mine; she was behind me,” Ariana Barrios said. “We then decided to sit next to each other for the movie and once it was over we exchanged numbers and eventually became the best of friends, like all of us; it’s a squad.”
The music she listens to really does present her personality. Today they are not bad influenced music; they are more of a mellow, calm type. An alternative is also fun bringing out enthusiasm just listening to it. Learning a thing or two listening to the lyrics.
“Daisy’s music changed her for the better, but didn’t completely change her. If anything it helped her bring her true self out,” Megan Ramirez said. “The type of music she listens to is not depressing nor a bad influence. It’s more of having fun and if you make mistakes learn from them.”
Lopez first started listening and getting involved with music around the age of seven, she was influenced by her older sister hearing her music around the house, later she started listening to the same then to her very own taste she’s been hooked ever since.
